Octopus 4 is a mechanism developed and patented by Envac for handling up to four different waste fractions in one single chute. It saves valuable space without losing storage capacity.
Octopus 4 is installed at the bottom of a vertical waste chute and acts as a multi-diverter as well as an intermediate storage. Envac installs it with the stationary vacuum waste collection system in mixed areas with residential buildings, shops, restaurants etc, and in hospitals.
Main components
- Waste inlet doors with buttons on a panel by the door. The buttons allow the user to choose which waste fraction that is going to be disposed of.
- Four separate storage sections with discharge valves, one for each waste fraction.
- A pneumatic mechanism that is activated by the buttons on top of the inlet door.
This is how it works
- Before disposing the waste the user chooses the proper waste fraction on the door panel.
- The pneumatic mechanism turns to the corresponding storage section. When this short operation ends, the inlet door is opened and the waste bag disposed of.
When the door is closed again, the system is ready for the next disposal. To ensure resident safety the system allows only one door at a time to be opened.
- An integrated control module, operating the valves, is connected to the control system in the waste collection station.
Product benefits
- The design saves space in the building without losing storage capacity.
