Korea Land & Housing Corporation developed this estate, the first U-City (Ubiquitous City) in the country.
Up to 30% of the area is reserved for a green zone with a park and other natural environments. The automated waste collection system is an important part of the sustainable infrastructure of HeungDeok City.
In HeungDeok a new type of Envac inlets are used, with a door that opens and closes automatically, and a sensor for the authorised plastic bags that are used for waste disposal.
