Placed along the quay eight Envac waste inlets the handles household waste from the 150 flats in the area and from 120 restaurants/bars/offices and small shops.
In 2005 the first waste collection station was moved from street level to an underground bunker to give room for the construction of a new theatre house.
At the same time the inlets were upgraded to a new model and a brand new control system was installed.
In April 2012 6 self-emptying litterbins, developed by Envac, were connected to the waste transportation pipenet. 2 more were installed in June, 2015 so in total there are 8 pieces of self-emptying litter bins covering the entire north side.
During the summer, when this popular tourist spot is crowded 24/7, the system transports approx. 60 tonnes of waste per week.
The upper part of the litter bin is designed by Architecht Erik Brandt Dam, Denmark.
