Envac designed a system that would service the entire JBR development by swapping what would have been a minimum of 332 1.1m3 conventional bins occupying 760m2 with 83 Envac inlets occupying only 200m2

With 40 towers, four hotel buildings and an ability to accommodate 15,000 people over 70,000 m2, Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) is now one of the largest residential developments in the Middle East.

During construction of JBR, the design of which had always incorporated a manual waste collection strategy based on conventional bins, the developer concluded that traditional waste collection would not effectively handle the projected waste volumes of over 33 tonnes each day.  The decision to implement Envac's Pneumatic Waste Collection System (PWCS) saved the developer time, space and cost related to the manual collection of waste. 

Since 2007 Envac has operated two PWCS servicing all the residential buildings, the four hotels and over 100 restaurants.  


Envac proved its flexibility by adding extra inlet capacity in 2011 to accommodate waste generated from additional commercial areas that were not anticipated when the initial design for JBR was undertaken. Four high capacity inlets were added that allowed these commercial units to access the PWCS without any need to expand the pipe network or collection stations.

Envac continues to work with Dubai Holdings to enhance the management of waste at JBR.
