The system installed in El Toyo serves numerous apartments, four hotels, one hospital and many shops and restaurants.

El Toyo was system implemented in the Olympic Villa of the last Mediterranean Games that took place in Almería in 2005.
The system, operated by Envac since its inauguration in June 2005, collects currently the waste produced by 2.700 dwellings in two different fractions, recyclables and rest.
The collection station is underground and the area has a recycling centre where the residents can leave other kind of refuse like bulky waste, glass, synthetic oil, cardboards etc.
