Project status

One of the world's largest vacuum waste collection system was inaugurated in April 1998. The area it serves is still under construction. Once it is finished it will manage the waste of 25.000 inhabitants and over 18.000 employees.

The Parque das Nacoes urban development project covers 340 hectares, including 5 km of river front property on the Tagus River.

It encompasses 60 ha, including the old Olivais Dock- a 1940´s airport for hydroplanes, and the 1998 World Exposition site.

The development's first phase laid the foundations: designed as a public space and hosting EXPO´98.

It is a self-contained urban area, with residential quarters, stores, services, urban infrastructure, parking facilities and parks.
