San Diego was the first of the automated waste collection systems in Seville. The projects included in this phase (Pino Montano 1 and 2, San Diego and Santa Cruz) were financed with Founds from the EU.

The system, operated by Lipasam since its inauguration in December 2003, collects more than 19 tons/day of the waste produced by 8.950 dwellings in three different fractions, recyclables, paper and rest.

The terminal is a very impressive building with a garden installed on the top of the roof.
