The "Project Octopus " incorporates several technological innovations to Porta Nuova, a new area of residential development that focuses on sustainability

Varesine is one of three projects that make up the ambitious project of urban renewal of Porta Nuova. Situated just over 1km from the Duomo, this new urban development will completely change the skyline of the city of Milan recovering areas for long time abandoned : Garibaldi, Varesine Island. Covering a surface of more than 290,000 m².  These abandoned old industrial buildings will become modern apartments, offices, hotels, cultural centers and green areas.

The project also includes three luxury residential towers of 14, 17 and 34 floors .

The peculiarity of the project - the Octopus system

The main innovation of this project is to install 3 valves or Sortera Mera, Octopus, as has been named after the various difficulties encountered to explain how this part of the system worked. An Octopus will be installed on the base of each tower to collect 4 fractions of waste with a single inlet door and sharing the same pipenet.

In addition, the system, with 5 additional inlets door integrated in a wall of the podium, will collect the waste from the commercial area, where there are shops and cafes.
