Nyhavn

The Nyhavn system originates from 1996. Along the quay in Nyhavn there are eight outdoor inlets used by the tenants in the 150 flats that are connected to the stationary vacuum waste collection system. In addition to the flats, 120 restaurants/bars/offices and small shops are connected to the system.

In 2005 the old collection station was moved from the street level to an underground bunker to give room for the construction work of a new theatre house.

At the same time the first inlets were replaced with an upgraded model and a brand new control system was installed. The stationary vacuum system is prepared to handle street litter, as a litterbin system will be added at a later stage. During the summer, the system transports approx. 60 tonnes of waste per week.
