Jin Sha Zhou Eco-town is located in the north-west of Guangzhou City, with an occupation area of 9.3 square kilometers. It involves the construction of three kinds of residential building: low-rent apartments, low-price apartments and free marketing pricing apartments. The idea of introducing automated wasted collection system in Jin Sha Zhou was advocated by the Mayor of Guangzhou. Since the city had no previous experience of the system, Jin Sha Zhou Eco-town is a pilot project with green profile for the local authority.
I am convinced that everyone living here will appreciate the vacuum system...
Li Chon-kun, JinShaZhou New Community Project Manager
As it is a mega project, the construction of Envac’s system has been divided into four districts to build four collection stations. The public network is financed by government while the rest of it is an investment by private real estate developers. Public network here means the four collection stations and the pipes that connect the system to the private properties.
The initial phase of the Jin Sha Zhou project is District 3 and the construction in this area comprises: New Community area , including 6,100 government financed apartments; private real estate project JinYuLanWan (developed by the top real estate developer in China); and an old residential area. Installing pipes was not easy as expected, lots of surprises rose up during the process, but they were solved. And in order to meet the government's deadline, District 3 was finally completed in 2008.
District 1 and District 2 started public network construction at the end of 2008, investors in district 1, 2 and 4 are mainly private real estate developers of major importance in Mainland China.
All in all, seven Envac systems will be built in Jin Sha Zhou. The system will transport one waste fraction to the collection stations and from there it is then taken by lorry for incineration. Although the construction in district 3 has finished for a long period, but since two thirds of residents in New Community has not moved in, the local authority has not announced formal operation of the system so far.
In the near future, all together, about 45,000 households with 150,000 inhabitants will be servided by an Envac vacuum waste collection system. Definitely, the Envac system will make a big difference in hygienic conditions in residential areas, to the joy of both residents and cleaning staff.
