Monte del Pilar is a residential area located along side a protected natural park in Majadahonda, a city close to Madrid, the busy capital of Spain.
This is the fourth installation of Majadahonda, a city with more than 50.000 inhabitants located close to Madrid.
The system - designed, installed and operated by Envac since its inauguration in October 2004 - collects more than 12 tons/day of the waste produced by 4.350 dwellings in two different fractions, recyclables and residuals.
Inlet nets and out door inlets drive the refuse to an underground collection station equipped with two cyclones, a bridge crane and four containers.
This is a very special collection station built totally underground and situated below a traffic circle to save urban space and go unnoticed by the citizens. This residential and peaceful area has lately incorporated a commercial area with small shops that also place their refuse in the automatic waste collection system.
