Envac’s commitment to Goal 11
We have developed smart solutions to help cities optimise waste collection, reduce carbon emissions by up to 90 per cent and encourage individuals to sort their waste more effectively and sustainably.
By transporting waste underground using airflow, cities can become safer, more resilient and inclusive.
Global crisis or global opportunity?
Envac wholeheartedly believes that this is an opportunity, however the world’s cities must start working now in order to achieve SDG 11. After all, with increasing pressure on urban environments, time is of the essence.
The team at Envac is continually developing smart waste technologies to encourage cities and their inhabitants to embrace more sustainable and innovative approaches to waste collection.
A changing population
- Half of the world’s population – 3.5 billion people – live in cities today
- By 2030, almost 60 per cent of the world’s population will live in urban areas
- The world’s cities occupy just three per cent of the Earth’s surface but account for 60 – 80 per cent of energy consumption and 75 per cent of carbon emissions
- Rapid urbanisation is putting pressure on fresh water supplies, the sewage system, the living environment and public health
