In a groundbreaking development for hospital logistics, Envac has unveiled its innovative technology at the newly inaugurated logistics platform of CHU Rennes University Hospital. This facility has set a new standard in Europe for automated and sustainable hospital logistics by introducing the world’s first integrated system that combines pneumatic transport of infectious waste with on-site treatment using state-of-the-art technology.
Envac has been awarded the contract to supply an automated waste collection system for Building C, the final phase of the new main building at Oulu University Hospital (OYS) in Finland, supporting the OYS2030 vision for a highly functional, cost‑effective and sustainable hospital campus.
Envac has signed an extended contract with Tuna Entreprenad (the project’s main contractor) for Eskilstuna Strängnäs Energy and Environment’s (ESEM) optical sorting plant. The collaboration includes both the modification and expansion of the existing facility and a clear commitment to increasing capacity and sorting efficiency.

With the help of digital tools, competitions, and real-time feedback, residents improved their sorting habits — and kept them up over time.
The pneumatic system by Envac consists of an initial network of over 500 metres of underground pipes through which the waste is transported from the source, with inlets spread inside the terminal, to the waste collection station. The total investment of the system is over 2.1 million euros.
