Envac champions circular urban solutions at COP30, Brazil

Envac’s Chief Sustainability Officer, Naz Habashian, represented the company at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belém, Brazil, as part of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) business delegation. Her involvement underscored Envac’s leadership in advancing sustainable, circular, and resilient cities on a global stage.

Envac at COP30 demonstrated its commitment to circular urban solutions and sustainable city development.

Throughout the conference, Naz engaged constructively with international leaders, policymakers, and innovators, sharing Envac’s advanced expertise in smart waste management. Her contributions informed high-level discussions on expediting climate action and enabling the shift towards a low-carbon future.

Envac’s innovative approach to urban sustainability was showcased through its:

  • Minimisation of waste and food waste via smart collection systems and circular design
  • Improvement of sorting and recycling to achieve genuine circularity
  • Development of resilient waste infrastructure to withstand extreme weather and crises
  • Commitment to safeguarding public health by reducing bacterial spread and revitalising urban environments

Naz participated in panels, roundtables, and meetings, emphasising the urgency for cities to transition toward circularity, resilience, and lower carbon emissions. Naz also highlighted that advancing circularity and reducing waste generation are crucial for lowering CO₂ emissions and tackling methane, a key climate super pollutant. These strategies were recognised at COP30 as essential levers for achieving the 1.5°C pathway.

Envac focused on the need to triple renewable energy sources and double energy efficiency, particularly in countries most vulnerable to climate change. The company also called for robust climate finance and effective carbon pricing.

Looking ahead, Envac remains dedicated to building partnerships and dialogues that turn climate ambitions into tangible, urban impact. Future plans include expanding smart waste management solutions, deepening collaboration with city stakeholders, and supporting the evolution of inclusive, sustainable urban development.

Envac, at COP30, reinforces its commitment to transforming climate ambition into practical progress and shaping more circular, resilient, and sustainable cities worldwide.
